Alison Compton is going Rogue!!

Ch-ch-ch-changes!  Changes all around!  It's officially official...I've moved to Rogue Salon!  With this big change, I thought it appropriate to do a little introduction to the new place.

Rogue Salon was opened in March 2011 by Kim Lund and Jamie Fonoti, two of my dear friends that I worked with at Salon Nouveau.  From the time I met these two women, I connected with them.  They've been in the hair business double what I have and I love working along side of them.  Watching them interact with their clients, I could clearly see that they absolutely adore taking care of people.  They love to create a relaxing salon experience and you can see that they have the ability to make their clients feel so unique and special.  Watching this happen on a daily basis with them, creates a passion and drive for me to do the same for my clients.  So naturally, when they invited me to be apart of their team, I couldn't pass that up!  Rogue Salon is located at 1315 Washington Blvd in a great near Downtown Ogden location. Close to I-15, and just off of 12th street, it makes it very easily accessible.  The salon itself resides in a Historic Victorian-Style home that has been converted to a business.  Jamie and Kim (along with LOTS of due credit to their husbands and family's) spend countless hours at the salon painting, tiling, cleaning, and creating a beautiful space for our team to work.  I found it very comforting to know that they often asked our opinion about how things should flow, and how it should run.  They valued what we had to say, and because of that, I feel like the rest of the team had a big part in how the salon turned out.

Rogue Salon offers specialty color services, design hair cuts, facial waxing, perms, deep conditioning and incredible gel and acrylic full sets, manicures and luxurious spa pedicures.  The best part of the salon is definitely our tight-knit team.  It's a one of a kind.  We create an upbeat, fun, and uplifting atmosphere that will keep you coming back regularly!  We carry an exclusive, high-end product line called Unite Eurotherapy that is PETA-approved, Vegan and Gluten Free.  It offers sulfate-free (a fancy term for the ultimate color safe) shampoos, quenching conditioners, and incredible styling products.
Stop in anytime for a tour of Rogue Salon and a FREE consultation.  Or, if you'd like to schedule your next salon experience, call 801-337-2827.  You will love it!!

Saying buh-bye to dryness!!

Every holiday season, I see a pattern with the clients in my chair.  Dry hair.  It's just a fact of life when living in Utah with this darn infamous dry climate!  It gets worse when we turn on our furnaces, and can reek havoc on our styles.  Over dryness can lead to loss of protein in the hair, and loss of protein in the hair can lead to hair breakage. Ditch those dry strands and upgrade to shiny hair this holiday season by following these simple tips:

1-Buy a humidifier and use it in your bedroom every single night.  Not only will your hair benefit, but so will your skin!  No more dry lips!
2-Cut down on damage from heat styling by skipping the blow dryer. Air dry your hair as much as you can. If skipping the heat tools is not an option for you, use a thermal heat protectant when blow drying and flat ironing.
3-Go as long as you can in between washings.  The less you wash, the less you have to blow dry and flat iron.  I really recommend using a dry shampoo in between washings to help soak up excess oil your scalp naturally produces.  They also add great body and texture.
4-When you do wash,  use a shampoo that is sulfate free.  Sulfates are the harsh cleansers found in most shampoos that strip hair of color, and all of the natural oils.  Over time, this creates dry hair.
5-For excessive dryness, deep condition weekly.  For fine hair, be sure to concentrate the treatment just in your ends.
6-Opt for demi permanent or low ammonia hair color.  These types of products are very gentle on the hair and optimize your hair's condition.  I prefer Paul Mitchell The Color permanent line and PM Shines Demi permanent line.  You can still have the freedom of color with or without grey coverage all while adding shine and condition to your hair!

By sticking to these guidelines, your hair's condition should improve dramatically within just a day or two...and that's a worry I think everyone can cross of their list this holiday season!  :)

Feature Product Time!

Meet my NEW best friend.  7 Seconds Leave In Conditioner by Salon Nouveau's brand new product line, Unite.  Here is my top 5 good reasons why you will love it as much as I do.

1-This product will help to detangle ANY hair FAST.  So fast, they named it 7Seconds.
2-It is a thermal protectant. Protects your hair from blow dryers, flat irons and curling irons.
3-It is a UV protectant.
4-It evens out your hair's porosity.  This means it will help all of your other styling products to perform even better on your hair.
5-It seals in your color.  Longer lasting color=$ saved on frequent visits to the salon for color touch up.

I use this product on everyone who sits in my chair and is not heavy or greasy.  It will also leave your hair soft and shiny.  So stop into Salon Nouveau for this product and tell them Alison sent you!  I guarantee 7Seconds will not let you down!
